Rankin Scholar Julie's Path Forward
Julie’s journey is one of transformation and determination. Diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, she faced early challenges but refused to let them define her. After years in the baking industry, Julie decided to pursue higher education and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Boise State University. It was there, through a summer research program, that she discovered her passion for science. Today, Julie is pursuing a PhD in microbiology and immunology at Georgetown University and the National Institute of Health Graduate Partners Program, conducting groundbreaking research into antibiotic treatments.
