As we all know, our world has been upended by COVID-19. While this is impacting all of us, it has pulled the rug out from under many of our Scholars. Unfortunately, those who need a paycheck the most are the ones who are losing their jobs first in the midst of this crisis.

We did a quick survey of JRF Scholars over the weekend and found that 63% of our current Scholars were either out of funds completely or expected to be within the week.

Sixty percent of our Scholars surveyed have an immediate need for the basics - food, heat, internet (so they can continue with their coursework), and car payments.

Scholar Jennifer B. shares:

I'm having a hard time finding food, especially food that we can eat (my son is allergic to sugar, among other things and has extreme health concerns). I have enough for this week but will run out next week if I can't find any…. Also don't have money for my insurance & vehicle payments, both due today. I've got a couple hundred bucks, but if I send it to auto loan company, I don't know if I'll have money to buy food for my family when it is back in stock. My husband has lost work due to this situation.
